“Gerda Sky” is a folk craft manufacturing company, located in the Ural Mountains region of Russia.
The major activity of the company is handmade sculpture carving from local stone: anhydrite, calcite, honey-colored selenite and soapstone.
The stone carving craftsmanship in the Ural region started in the end of the 19th century. In the beginning of the 20th century, masters from jewelers’ manufacture of Peter Carl Fabergé founded a stone carving school, and the stone carving craftsmanship achieved a high artistic level.
“Gerda Sky” was founded in the spring of 2014 employing five active, enthusiastic artists and stone carvers who in a joint effort aim to revive and support the traditions of the Ural stone carving craftsmanship.
The chief artistic designer of the manufactory is Anatoly M. Ovchinnikov, an honored stone carver, one of the most famous animal sculptors of Russia. Не influenced the entire generation of artists with his style and technique. His stone masterpieces were exported to many countries.
Nowadays, “Gerda Sky” produces handmade stone figurines, exclusive stone souvenirs, as well as museum quality sculptures. The artists are ready to customize and bring to life any individual project.
